After finalising the medals, the next step was bringing the rest of Walk Run Wrestle to life — starting with the logo, colour scheme, and website.
Our first attempt at the website was Phase One. We built everything ourselves, but quickly realised it wasn’t right, so we deleted it and started again.
Neither of us had much experience with website building — we spent hours Googling, learning as we went, experimenting. We used Wix for the site, and it took weeks. Both of us working on it on our days off from our day jobs. but finally we got there.
The web app was completely new territory — neither of us had ever coded before. Everything was self-taught, and there were so many mistakes along the way. We learned to code, use GitHub, make the apps live and accessible, and adjust things when they broke. The website process taught us so much, and thanks to the time we had while waiting for medals from China, we could keep playing, testing, and refining until we finally had something we loved.
Along the way, we decided to introduce Knox, our mascot, which meant going back and adding him into the website. Even on launch day, we were still tweaking, but eventually, everything came together, and we were finally happy with it all.
This phase wasn’t just about building a website — it was about learning, persistence, and creating a brand from scratch, even when the skills didn’t exist yet.
